IIT JAM 2021 Dates: Information Bulletin released, Know Eligibility, Fee & changes in pattern

IISc Bengaluru will administer IIT JAM 2021 and releases information bulletin at website. Institute on Saturday, releases the IIT JAM 2021 exam dates & detailed schedule. Joint Admission Test for MSc (JAM) will be held on 14 February 2021 and the applications are going to open from September 10 to October 15, 2020. 

Joint Admission Test for M.Sc 2021 will be organized as an all India Entrance examination to provide admissions to M.Sc. (Four Semesters), Joint M.Sc.-Ph.D, M.Sc-Ph.D. Dual Degree, etc. Programmes at the IITs and Integrated Ph.D. Degree Programmes at IISc for consolidating Science as a career option for bright students. These postgraduate programmes at IITs and IISc offer high quality education in their respective disciplines, comparable to the best in the world, admission notice reads. 

About IIT JAM 2021:

IISc Bangalore is appointed as nodal administer for IIT JAM 2021. The admission test will be conducted in eight zones across the country jointly by Indian Institute of Science (IISc), Bengaluru, and seven Indian Institutes of Technology (Bombay, Delhi, Guwahati, Kanpur, Kharagpur, Madras and Roorkee) on behalf of Ministry of Education (MoE). 

IIT JAM 2021 Online Application-

Registration for IIT-JAM 201 will start from September 10, 2020 and the closing of application form will be October 15, 2020. Candidates possessing required eligibility need to apply online for JAM 2021 at official website-

IIT JAM 2021 Test Pattern:

The JAM 2020 Examination for all the six test papers will be carried out as ONLINE Computer Based Test (CBT) where the candidates will be shown the questions in a random sequence on a computer screen. For all the six test papers, the duration of the examination will be 3 hours. The medium for all the test papers will be English only. There will be a total of 60 questions carrying 100 marks. The entire paper will be divided into three sections, A, B and C. All sections are compulsory. Questions in each section will be of different types as given below- 

  • Section–A contains a total of 30 Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs) involving 10 questions of one mark each and 20 questions of two marks each. Each MCQ has four choices out of which only one choice is the correct answer. Candidates can mark the answer by clicking the choice. 

  • Section–B contains a total of 10 Multiple Select Questions (MSQs) carrying two marks each. Each MSQ is similar to MCQ but with the difference that MSQ may have one or more than one correct choice(s) out of the four given choices. The candidate gets full credit only if he/she selects all the correct answer(s) only and no wrong answers. Candidates can mark the answer(s) by clicking the choice(s). 

  • Section–C contains a total of 20 Numerical Answer Type (NAT) questions involving 10 questions of one mark each and 10 questions of two marks each. For these NAT type questions, the answer is a signed real number, which needs to be entered using the virtual numeric keypad on the monitor. No choices will be shown for NAT questions. 

Note- From 2021, the admission test will include one more subject- Economics- apart from the existing six subjects- Mathematics, Chemistry, Physics, Biotechnology, Geology and Mathematical Statistics. 

IIT JAM 2021 Exam Date

The Indian Institute of Science Bengaluru would conduct IIT JAM 2021 in February 2021. Joint Admission Test for MSc, or JAM, will be held on February 14, 2021 in Online Computer Based mode in two shifts. The JAM 2021 result is scheduled to be declared on March 20, 2021.

Eligibility for IIT JAM:

The candidates who qualify in JAM 2020 shall have to fulfil the following Eligibility Requirements (ER) for admissions to IITs. 

  • All candidates admitted through JAM should have a Bachelor’s degree. 
  • In the qualifying degree, the aggregate marks or CGPA/CPI without rounding-off (taking into account all subjects, including languages and subsidiaries, all years combined) should be at least 55% or 5.5 out of 10 for General/ OBC (NCL) /EWS category candidates and 50% or 5.0 out of 10 for SC/ST and PwD category candidates. 

Application Fee:

Note- A candidate can appear in either one or two Test Paper(s) of IIT JAM 2021. Such a candidate desirous of appearing in two Test Papers must ensure that these Test Papers are not scheduled in the same session. For appearing in the second Test Paper, a requisite additional fee should be paid as follows- 

Female/ SC/ ST/ PwD have to pay Rs 750 for one test paper and Rs 1050 for two test papers, whereas, fee for all other categories would be Rs 1500 for one paper and Rs 2100 for both papers.
