The Department of Elementary Education, Haryana Govt has written a letter to School Education Board Haryana (BSEH), Bhiwani in regarding implementing of Board examinations in Class 8th. The Department citing changes in rights to education act 2011, is going to implement Board in Class VIII across all Schools recognized/ affiliated to Haryana Board, Bhiwani. Earlier in the month of February, Haryana Government brought the proposal for Class 8th examination to bring under Haryana School Education Board.
Taking cognizance from the letter, Haryana Education Department implements the order for Board examinations in Class 8th form the current academic session 2020-21. After implementation of the rules and regulations, students taking admissions into Haryana state govt schools and private schools affiliated to Haryana board, Bhiwani will have to appear in Board exams for Class 8th.
Earlier Haryana state chief minister Manohar Lal Khattar who presented the “education centric” budget 2020-21 announced to bring Class VIII exams under HBSE board. Board Examinations for Class 8th will be started with an objective to increase academic level and learning outcomes of students from the academic year 2020-21, CM said during budgetry speech. In the recent move implementing the board exams for Class 8th, it is highlighted that if a student fails in year-end Class 8th exams conducted by Haryana Board, candidate will be given two more chances to pass the exams.

Board examinations for Class 8th in Haryana abolished after implementation of RTE Act 2009, which provided for compulsory education to children between age group up to 14 years. The act stated that the children in this age group should be able to study without mental stress. The last board examinations in Haryana for Class 8th held in year 2010.
