Hon'ble Supreme Court has started hearing the plea filed by the Doctors' Associations seeking postponement of the exam, giving one-time exemption, & induction of FMGs into the healthcare system. A vacation bench of Justice Indira Banerjee and Justice MR Shah is hearing the matter today, on June 15, after the same hearing differed from 11 June to 15 June, Tuesday.
Foreign Medical Graduate Examination (FMGE) is a licensing examination required to be qualified by all Indian citizens/OCIs who have completed their pre-medical qualification from an institution outside India and wish to practice in India. NBE has scheduled to conduct FMGE 2021 exam on June 18, 2021 (Friday). Several students and Doctors' associations have moved to Supreme Court seeking relief for the Foreign Medical Graduates or FMGs.
Supreme Court had differed the 11th June hearing on a plea seeking induction of Foreign Medical Graduates (FMGs) in the healthcare workforce of the country to augment the ailing healthcare system.
Citing the prevailing COVID-19 situation, a section of FMGs seeking NBE to postpone the FMGE 2021 examination from 18th June. Several aspirants demand the nodal agency to give a 'one-time exemption' to the FMGs, which could pave way for their induction into the healthcare workforce amid pandemic. High Court hearing the plea asked how many students out of 18000 want a postponement of this exam FMGE June 2021.

June 15, 4:13 PM: Supreme Court adjourns hearing till June 18, 2021, the day of the FMGE 2021 exam.
"The pandemic threatened almost every one of us. When the Nation was in need, the fraternity which came out to save the needy were the doctors. Now it’s our time to pay back them. The National Board of Examinations (NBE) on the other hand has decided to conduct the Foreign Medical Graduate Examination (FMGE) 2021 for Indian and Overseas Citizens of India on June 18. Board has released the admit card on its official website.
