A high level meeting on Board and Entrance exams 2021 is scheduled for today, on Sunday at 11:30 am. The meeting will be held virtually and will be chaired by Union Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, in the presence of Education Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank, Union Minister for Women and Child Development Smriti Irani and Union IB Minister Prakash Javadekar. It is expected that the fate of CBSE Class 12 students will be decided today after detailed deliberation on board and entrance exams 2021.
Union Education Minister Dr. Pokhriyal on Saturday said Hon’ble Prime Minister Narendra Modi has desired that any decision that affects students has to be taken after consultation with states and the education stakeholders include teachers, parents and students.
The Central Board of Secondary Education and other state and central education boards have postponed annual exams for Class 12 students. The Education Ministry and the CBSE are exploring options regarding the conduct of examinations, keeping in view the safety of students and teachers, the Education Ministry said on Saturday.
“The Department of Higher Education is also deliberating upon the finalization of the dates of examinations for institutions of higher learning,” it said.
Several state and national level entrance examinations, including the Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) Main for Engineering and the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) for postgraduate medical examination were earlier postponed, amid scares of the second wave of COVID-19.
Earlier, Dr. Pokhriyal asked parents, teachers and students to send their suggestions on the issue of board exams 2021 especially on Class 12 or Intermediate exams amid the Covid pandemic.
Minister has received several suggestions which include--conducting the board exams only for selected and major subjects, marks based on an internal assessment, or conducting exam in multiple phases are among the many suggestions Minister received.
