Education Minister reacts to the SC verdict on UGC Guidelines, takes jibe at opposition

Union Education Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank reacts to the verdict delivered by Supreme Court on UGC guidelines. Minister says that "I heartedly welcome the decision taken by Supreme Court in favor of UGC. Taking a jibe at opposition parties Minister of Education in his tweet adds "Let us keep the politics away from the education and make our politics more educated". The reaction from the Minister's side comes at a time when opposition party ruled Chief Ministers file the petition in Supreme Court against centre's decision to conduct NEET & JEE main exams.

Earlier in the day, Supreme Court of India announced its verdict reviewing petitions challenging UGC's guidelines to conduct final year examinations. In its decision SC upholds the Commission's decision and circular released on July 6, to hold Universities' final term exams. All states should hold final exams to promote students, SC adds. However, the SC's verdict also allows state government/s to postopne final year exams under Disaster management Act in view of pandemic, under which they can consult UGC to fix the new exam dates.

The Supeme Court on Friday announced its verdict, resolving long filed petitions from the states, students and other bodies challenging University Grant Commission's July 6, circular on holding final year exams by Sept end. The written petitions were filed from the both end and the decision was left on Apex Court.

Taking to his twitter handle, Education Minister on Friday tweets- Today, I heartily welcome the decision taken by the Honorable Supreme Court in UGC's favour, in the context of final year exams. Let us keep politics away from education and make our politics more educated, Minister added.
