School of Open Learning, Delhi University has started Online classes for SOL students. Students of BA, BCom (Program/Hons) are issued guidelines to login in Microsoft Teams’ accounts. SOL students are asked to create login IDs at Microsoft Teams app to get access to foolproof Academic Counseling Programmes. University Department has tied up with Microsoft 365 for the PCP Online programmes amid lockdown due to Covid19 pandemic.
Computer Team of SOL, DU has created Microsoft Teams' accounts of all students and Faculty members. School of Open Learning has started sending SMS to students regarding link, Login & password details.
SOL administration has started Online Education Counseling to all students enrolled. Joining with Microsoft 365, Department through ‘Microsoft Teams' has started facilitating PCP counseling program Online. Students are being sent SMS regarding Class logins & passwords.
Additionally the login IDs and Passwords are also made available at Students' dashboard at SOL website sol.du.ac.in.
DU SOL is now preparing to conduct online classes for all UG & PG courses. With the nationwide lockdown extended till 3rd May, SOL Computer Team has started Online Academic Counseling Programmes for students.
However examinations of Delhi University SOL, NCWEB & Regular Colleges are postponed. According to reports University is also mulling the Online examination option.
Delhi University has told its computer centre (DUCC) to come out with a platform that can be used for conducting online exams. These exams may be conducted by administering question papers through multiple choice questions in OMR sheets to facilitate early results. But no official update has been made so far, Delhi University exams are still postponed. University however has initiated exam form process.
But in recent report the decision to conduct Online Exams is opposed by Delhi University Teachers’ Association (DUTA). Association has said 'Online education model cannot be a substitute to regular classroom teaching. It does not work in a country where internet connectivity and smartphones are limited to a class of students only.'
