University of Delhi (DU) on Saturday started mock test for the Online Open Book exams (OBE), but technical faults in mock-test led students to object the University's initiative. Final year/ semester students of regular Colleges, SOL & NCWEB reported several glitches on the very 1st day of mock-test. Students observing the glitches launched campaign on social media to scrap the OBE exams citing the network, technical faults, wrong question paper & other issues in mock-test.
Earlier it was reported that nearly 30,000 students registered in the first slot and several of them faced problems in Login. Students taking OBE mock-test also alleged that website portal crashed as they were trying to take part.
However, Dean of Examination has denied such technical glitches and even mixing of paper, after he briefed on mock-test day 1 report. During interaction he said “I’m sitting here with the question papers open in front of me. There may be an issue in one or two cases but otherwise everything in its place”. He also refutes the claims of students over website crash & said “when the exams are held students will come to the portal in batches since exam timings are different. During mock test load is much more and yet the website hasn’t crashed which says something about our preparedness”.
Students said that on the very first day of OBE mock test they faced wrong question paper, network issues, technical failures and website crash. Some students also said that there could be an opportunity for third party involvement.

Students alleged that at SOL OBE portal, questions from several subjects were seen in the mock-test. A student on social media tweeted that DU open book exams are marred with glitches and should be scrapped. University students also initiated social media trend with has tags DUAgainstOnlineExams and ScrapOBE. Following the same several University students joined social media campaigns launched to scrap DU OBE exams. Citing the internet problems, uncovered syllabus and possibility of third parties, students asked authorities to scrap OBE exams.
DU OBE Mock-Test Portal- Delhi University has facilitated mock-test link for students of all undergraduate and postgraduate courses of regular colleges/ departments and Non-Collegiate Women’s Education Board (NCWEB) obe.du.ac.in. Delhi University has scheduled to conduct mock-test for Online OBE exams between 4th to 7th July 2020. Online Open Book examinations for Delhi University will start from July 10.
