Delhi University refutes Social-media claims over irregularities in statutory appointments, issues notice

The University of Delhi releases a clarification notice on website du.ac.in refuting false claims on social-media in regarding irregularities in statutory appointments. University also clarifies that Pro-Vice Chancellor will act as Vice Chancellor and is the only Competent Authority to approve orders.

Delhi University issues a statement over false claims being made on social-media over statutory appointments for the Pro-Vice Chancellor, Registrar and Director posts. In its statement Delhi University refutes the claims and ensures about the smooth conduct of Admission, Recruitment, Appointments and academic activities inside University.

"For the last two days several notifications have circulated through various media regarding statutory appointments and other related matters. This also includes the notifications regarding the appointment of a new Pro–Vice Chancellor, Registrar and Director, South Campus", notice reads.

Clarying over the false claims in social-media posts, University clarifies that Prof. P. C. Joshi, Pro-Vice Chancellor will act as Vice Chancellor and is the only Competent Authority to approve / issue orders as per the provisions of the Act, Statutes and Ordinances of the University. "Any notification / orders issued without the due approval of Prof. P. C. Joshi are null and void", University notice adds.

DU also ensures that the admission process, recruitment and academic activities are carried out smoothly as per schedule without any delay in the scenario of COVID-19 pandemic.

Earlier through several social-media posts Delhi University was targetted of corruption charges. In different Recruitment and admission related activities University faced complaints of irregularities & corruption.

On social-media University Professors were alleged of misusing funds and following the irregularities Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia called for a CAG Audit.
