Decision on UPSC Civil Service Exams after May 3, sources

Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) will be announcing new exam dates for the Civil services Examinations after May 3. As per govt sources UPSC after lockdown will decide new exam dates and remaining personality test dates. Nationwide lockdown has made Commission to postpone it’s exams including CSE Prelims 2020 and Civil Service Exam 2018 personality tests. The decision on UPSC CSE exams seems to be taken after May 3 , 2020.  

The UPSC Commission on Wednesday said 'amid the current lockdown restrictions and social distancing norms, dates for all the remaining exams and interviews including of Civil Services will be reviewed and declared after the lockdown ends'. A decision will be taken regarding the Civil Services Exams, personality test and other remaining ones after May 3, added source.

UPSC & SSC examinations that were put on hold due to lockdown, will definitely take place. We will take a call after May 3 & reschedule dates in a manner that it gives sufficient time to all the aspirants to reach to their designated examination centers said Union Min Dr Jitendra Singh.

Decision on UPSC Civil Service Exams

After extension in lockdown till May 3, the schedule of various UPSC exams has affected and likely the decision on remaining exams, personality tests would be taken after lockdown ends, UPSC said. According to UPSC the exam dates for Civil Services-2020 (Prelim), Engineering Services (Main) and the Geologist Services (Main) Examinations have already been announced but further amendments will be updated on the website, if it considers rescheduling them.  

In light of the prevailing situation due to Covid19 in India and Government’s guidelines to maintain social distancing amid lockdown, it has been decided that dates for all UPSC interviews and examinations where candidates are required to travel from all parts of the country, will be reviewed every now and then.

UPSC Civil Service Exam New Dates-

The official announcement reads ‘A decision on UPSC new dates for the remaining Civil Services Exam 2020, CSE Exam 2019 Personality Tests & others will be taken after May, 3, 2020, following the second phase of the lockdown.  
Dates for the Civil Services-2020 (Prelim), Engineering Services (Main) and the Geologist Services (Main) Examinations had already been announced. Any rescheduling in these examinations, if necessitated by the evolving situation, will be notified on the website of the UPSC upsc.gov.in.

Dates for CAPF exam will also be uploaded on the website. The National Defency Academy Examination has been postponed till further notice. Deferment notices have already been posted for the Combined Medical Services Examination, the Indian Economic Service and the Indian Statistical Service Examination 2020.

The UPSC members have decided to cut their 30% salary and in addition to it, contributing their one day salary to PM Relief fund in order to contribute to the national battle against coronavirus and add on to the financial resources of the country which are getting depleted day by day.

On Sunday Union Minister Dr Jitendra Singh said that SSC & UPSC exams will definitely held. The decion on UPSC and other ex's would be taken after May 3. Answering question related to cut in Pensions, Minister said Govt has neither held any discussion nor considered cutting the pension of senior citizens. Also, under PM Modi, govt can never take such an insensitive step of transferring the pension money of people above 80 years of age to Covid19 fund.
