Consortium of National Law Universities (NLUs) has postponed the Common Law Admission Test (CLAT) 2020 to 28 September 2020. On Friday, Consortium decided to postpone the National level Law Entrance Exam (CLAT 2020). The postpone notice states that “CLAT entrance exam for admissions to Undergraduate (UG) and Postgraduate (PG) law programmes offered by 22 National Law Universities around the country, which was scheduled for 22nd August 2020, has been postponed to the new exam date September 28, 2020”.
Consortium of NLUs organizes CLAT law entrance exam consisting of the representative universities every year. Registrations for the examination were closed on 10th July 2020 and the CLAT examination was proposed for 22nd August 2020. Following the recent assessment of situation, it is decided that CLAT examination 2020 now will be held on 28 September 2020, official intimation reads.
Earlier the Executive Committee of the Consortium of National Law Universities (the “Consortium”) met on 29th June 2020 to review the impact on CLAT 2020 of the lockdowns and other restrictions arising out of the COVID-19 pandemic. At the aforesaid meeting, the EC assessed the feasibility of conducting the Common Law Admission Test, 2020 (the “CLAT 2020”) through various modes.
It concluded that an off-line test, as initially contemplated, would require large scale movement of students to limited centres, and significant logistics in the handling of question papers and answer scripts. The detailed CLAT 2020 exam postpone notice can be read at CLAT 2020 notice portal.
CLAT 2020 New Exam Date:
The CLAT 2020 examination has been shifted to the new date in fourth week of September 2020. The national level law entrance test will be conducted on 28 Sept, 2020. Following the “Social Distanced Computer Based Testing” model the Consortium will enable a rapid restart of assessments with due compliance to social distancing norms and other key precautions to be taken to ensure prevention of virus spread.

The intimation on CLAT 2020 new examination dates would be notified in due course. Students are advised to keep in contact with official website of CLAT i.e consortiumofnlus.ac.in.
All candidates with temperature > 99.14 will be directed to the isolation lab for taking the examination. In case of candidate with scribe, both the candidate and the scribe must bring their own N95 mask. Candidates will be permitted to carry following items with them into the venue: Mask, Gloves, Personal transparent water bottle, Personal hand sanitizer (50 ml), A simple pen o Exam related documents (Admit Card, ID card, etc.), Candidates will be told to switch off their mobile phones, and deposit it at the designated location, to be collected while exiting.
