The centre is considering the module of Common Aptitude Test, in a direction foward to the One-nation, one-exam, weeks after New Education Policy rolled out by the Union Cabinet. Govt is to take the step forward to implement the Common Aptitude Test (CAT) for DU, BHU, JNU among other central universities. Similar to the other NTA exams, the students will have an option of appearing for the exams more than once.
The idea behind the Common Aptitude test has been evolved from the proposal of the NEP 2020 which was submitted in July 2020. According to different media reports, a committee has been set up to recommend the modalities and implementation of the Common Aptitude Test (CAT) which will grant admissions into central universities from the academic session 2020-21.
The Aptitude test will be most likely come into effect in time for the admissions for the UG programmes in all central universities across the country for the academic year 2021-2022. The Aptitude test to be conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA) for the candidates looking for Undergraduate (UG) admissions into DU, JNU, BHU, and other central varsities.
About Common Aptitude Test-
In accordance with the proposals sent by the National Education Policy, which was recently approved by the Union Cabinet, Centre is mulling over the option to hold Common Aptitude Test (CAT) for joint admission to Delhi University, Banaras Hindu University, Jawaharlal Nehru University and other central universities.
Sources have said that the Aptitude test call a computer-based exam at All India Level as similar to DUET and JNUET conducted by NTA for the year 2020. The CAT exam is be to test candidates in general components and a subject-specific component. The exam shall consist of language, logical reasoning, and quantitative aptitude among the general as ingrediants. of the student will be tested, along with the subject-specific assessment, report adds.

The examination will eliminate the need for applying for different entrance exams for different Universities after Intermediate.
