CBSE Compartment Exam 2020: Class 10, 12 Compartmental exams necessary, says Board

The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) on Friday clarifies that Compartmental exams of Class 10th and 12th will not be cancelled. CBSE Board clears its stance on board compartment examinations of 10th and 12th. Amid speculations over cancellation of Compartment exams 2020, CBSE board today says that the compartment exam cannot be cancelled, and cancelling exams will affect the future of a large number of students, Board official says. Earlier in the day Board clarifies that appearing for Maths Compartment exam not necessary for students wishing to pursue maths in 11th Class.

Earlier students approached CBSE board regarding cancellation of the Compartment examination. Students were demanding that the compartment examination should be cancelled in view of unprecedented situation caused after Covid-19 pandemic. Following the request, the board on August 7, made its stand clear to hold Compartmental exams. CBSE states that the compartmental examinations are necessary and won't be cancelled. Board examinations will be conducted following the Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) issued by the Ministry of Home Affairs. 

CBSE Compartment Exams 2020:

CBSE further said that it received applications from across the country and considered them thoroughly, but the cancellation of Compartment Examination is not important, and by cancelling exams the future of large number of students would be at stake. While the board has clarified that it would conduct Classes 10 & 12 compartment exams at a suitable time. The board has decided to forego its rule of clearing Mathematics examinations as a one-time exemption for students. Board clarifies that the students who had appeared for CBSE Class 10 Mathematics and have cleared the subject, are now eligible to take up Maths in Class 11, without appearing for the maths paper Compartment exam.

As per data made available through an official notification, a total 87,651 students of CBSE Class 12th and 1,50,198 students of Class 10 have registered for Compartment examinations.

CBSE Compartment Exam Date Sheet:

CBSE is yet to confirmed the exam dates for Class 10 & 12 Compartment exams. It is stated that Board compartment examinations 2020 are expected to be held later. Students are advised to check the latest notifications and updates on the official website of the CBSE. Earlier in first half of July 2020 Board declared the Class 10 & Class 12 examinations result. CBSE opted internal assessment criteria for left-over examinations, after the matter reached to the High Court. CBSE took the decision after protest from students and parents to cancel the left-over march 2020 scheduled examinations.
