A virtual meeting has just begun between Union Minister of Education Dr. Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank and state education secretaries, virtually. In the meeting the deliberations on future course of action especially regarding the board exams, online education and New Education Policy 2020 to be held, as the Education Minister himself told on Sunday.
The meeting is being held amid the talks of CBSE class 12 exam be cancelled due to the surge in cases of the COVID19 all over the country. However, the board is yet to take a decision on class 12 board exam 2021. The exam for Class 10 has already been cancelled by most of the states and central board.
According to the media reports, the Ministry of Education might declare a final decision on the cancellation of CBSE class 12th board examination 2021 during the meeting after discussion with state education secretaries.
Union Education Minister informed about this meeting through a tweet on his official twitter handle on Sunday. "I will be virtually attending the meeting with State Education Secretaries on 17th May, 2021 at 11 AM. The objective of the meeting is to review the #COVID situation, online education, and work around NEP," Education Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank tweeted yesterday.

Due to the worsening situation under second wave of COVID19 in different parts of the country, it is expected that class 12 exam be cancelled. CBSE has already announced to cancel Class 10 exam and postponed class 12 exam after a meeting chaired by the Prime Minister, last month. Union Education Ministry recently called Central Agencies to cancel all exams that were scheduled in May 2021, due to the surge in cases of the Coronavirus.
