CBSE Class 10th Exams Cancelled, Postponed for Class 12th, What Next?

Central Board of Secondary Education released an official notice to cancel the Secondary or Class X board exams 2021. Objective criteria will be decided by Board to prepare the results. CBSE Class 12th exams have been postponed till further notice.

CBSE Exams 2021: CBSE has decided to postpone the board exams for Class 12th and cancel the exams for class 10th. In view of the present situation of the pandemic and school closures, the board has decided to take the decision in a meeting chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Education Minister Dr. Ramesh Nishank Pokhriyal.

Giving a huge relief to the students who were demanding the postponement of their exams due to a surge in COVID-19 cases, Board has decided to postpone exams for Sr. Secondary or Class 12th. For Secondary or Class 10th exams have been cancelled for now and the results will be declared on the basis of objective criterion to be developed by the Board.

Although the board has not announced the new exam dates for Class 12th board exams but has said that a notice will be released at least 15 days before the start of the examinations.

"Looking to the present situation of the pandemic and school closures, and school closures, and also taking in account the safety and well-being of the students, it is decided as follows- The Board exams for Class XII to be held from May 4th to June 14th, 2021 are hereby postponed. These exams will be held hereafter. The situation will be reviewed on 1st June 2021 by the Board, and the details will be shared subsequently. A notice of at least 15 days will be given before the start of the examinations.

The Board exams for Class X to be held from 4th may to June 7th, 2021 are hereby canceled. The results of the Class X board will be prepared on the basis of an objective criterion to be developed by the Board. Any candidate who is not satisfied with the marks allocated to him/her on this basis will be given an opportunity to sit in an exam as and when the conditions are conclusive to hold the exams", the Central Board of Secondary Education says through its notice.

Earlier in the day, a meeting was called by PM Modi in view of the situation after Covid-19, across the country. Union Education Minister and Secretaries of the central and state boards also attended the meeting, virtually.
