Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) on Thursday introduces the facility of virtual inspection for up-gradation of affiliation. Central Board adopts the virtual facility for the upgradation of Schools' affiliation and upgradation amid situation after Covid. Hailing the decision taken by CBSE for the upgradation of affiliation, Education Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal, Nishank says that "this step by CBSE will be a relief to schools in the challenging times of COVID-19 pandemic".
CBSE Secretary on Thursday, August 20, writes a letter to all the heads of the Institutions affiliated to CBSE and members of inspection Committee in subject to "Introduction of virtual inspection in respect of cases registered for upgradation of affiliation for sesion upto 2021-22". Secretary in his letter states that in view of current Covid-19 situation it is observed that the Physical inspection of schools which have applied for the upgradation of affiliation has been held up. These schools are already affiliated with board and due to natural growth of students in higher classes, the schools are facing hardship due to non-conduct of inspection, letter reads. Education Minister Ramesh Nishank Pokhriyal hails the decision taken by CBSE board and says this step will relief to schools in this challenging time.
Keeping in view the fact of non-conduct of Physical inspection, Competent Authority of Board after due consideration and reviewing the present situation has accorded approvals of virtual inspection of Secondary and Senior Secondary schools for cases registered upto 2021-22 (cases of upgradation registered 2018-19, 2019-20, 2020-21 and 2021-22 respectively) for which fresh inspection committees shall be constituted, notice adds.

CBSE is also setting up a facilitation centre to address quarries/ problems of schools / Inspection committees related to virtual inspection. Committee constituted for the virtual inspection has been directed to conclude the inspection within 10 days of issue of notice.
