On Tuesday, thousands of students launching a social-media protest demanded the cancellation of Board exams 2021 due to the surge in Coronavirus cases across the country. Students of Maharashtra joined by the students from other states and helped in trending a campaign with #cancelboardexams2021 on top of the trends on Micro-blogging site Twitter.
The campaign is launched just ahead of 'Pariksha Pe Charcha', a virtual interaction of Prime Minister Narendra Modi with students, parents and teachers to be held on 7th April at 7 PM. Students from Maharashtra demand the cancellation of classes 10 and 12 board exams citing the eruption of covid-19 cases in the state, as Maharashtra is bearer of more than 60 percent of daily Coronavirus cases in India.
The campaign was aimed to make authorities reconsider their decision on holding Board exams 2021 amid a surge in Covid-19 cases specifically in Maharashtra. Maharashtra Secondary & Higher Secondary Education Board has scheduled to conduct Class 10th Board exams from April 29 to May 20, while the Class 12 exams shall be conducted from April 23 to May 21. However, State Education Department has decided to promote Class 1 to 8 students of Maharashtra board schools, without holding exams.
