Board Exams 2021 (Live): Meeting between PM Modi, Education Minister & Board Secretaries begins

To deliberate over the upcoming Board exams 2021, PM Narendra Modi has called a high-level meeting with the Union Education Minister Dr. Pokhriyal. Among other officials, Board Secretaries will also attend the meeting.

Board Exams 2021: Amid rising demands of students to either cancel or postpone the board exams, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Education Minister and CBSE Secretary hold a high-level meeting. According to the government sources, the meeting is being chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Education Minister Dr. Ramesh Nishank Pokhriyal, CBSE Secretary Anurag Tripathi are among the officials attending the meeting. The meeting has begun at 12:00 noon in New Delhi.

Based on the reports, the deliberation is being held on making a decision on the board exams, scheduled to start in May 2021. The meeting is called on amid the rising demands of the students, parents, and teachers to postpone or cancel the board exams, due to safety concerns.

It is expected that in the meeting a middle way to be found by the concerned authorities. "Neither the cancellation of exams would be an option nor to promote students without board exams would be", a senior official said on being asked about today's meeting.

On one hand, parents fear that what would happen if the child is caught by the COVID-19 virus. On the other hand, thousands of students and teachers have registered their protests against holding board exams in view of the surge in COVID-19 cases across the country. Over one lakh students have signed a petition at to let the CBSE board reverse its decision to conduct the exams.

However, so far CBSE Board exams are scheduled to start from Class 10th exams from 4th May. Facing the second wave of Covid-19 the number of cases is increasing rapidly all across the country. On Wednesday, India recorded over 1.84 lakh cases of Coronavirus in the last 24 hours.
