On 20 April, 2020 ‘Delhi Commission for Women’ issued a notice regarding the attempted suicide by a resident female doctor of AIIMS asking for the reports and about the matter from the AIIMS.
The Delhi Commission for Women has taken Suo-moto cognizance on reports of suicide attempted by a female resident doctor of AIIMS allegedly due to repeated sexual harassment and caste discrimination by the faculty. Commission has instituted an inquiry into the matter.
It is a very serious matter. It is critical that exemplary action is taken against the perpetrators of cast and gender biased violence, said the Swati Maliwal the Chairperson of Delhi Commission for Women in the issued notice.
In the light of the matter, the commission has instituted an inquiry. The notice has also requested to provide all the information related to the matter to the commission.
Seeing the gravity of the matter, the commission also asked to provide the reports latest by 25.04.2020.
