Delhi Metro from 7 Sep: Only asymptomatic persons will be allowed, says Union Minister Hardip Puri

Delhi Metro rail operations are going to be resumed in a graded manner from Sept 7. Those metro stations which have more than one line will open different lines from Sept 7, in a calibrated manner, so that all corridors become operation by Sept 12, Union Minister of Housing & Urban Affairs says in a press conference, held in Delhi. Speaking on the Delhi Metro services, Minister says the Frequency of trains will need to be regulated and stations in containment zones will remain closed.

Wearing face masks will be mandatory for all passengers. Only asymptomatic persons will be allowed to travel after thermal screening at station entry points, Hardeep Singh Puri, Union Minister for Housing & Urban Affairs says. On Tuesday, Cabinet called a meeting followed by press conference on Unlock-4 guidelines, especially Delhi Metro services.

This opening up of metro rail services in a graded & calibrated manner will need to be reviewed. If we find that resumption of operations is not resulting in social distancing, then, we might have no option but to review these arrangements, he added. The Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) in its Unlock-4 guidelines released on August 31, announced the resumption of Delhi Metro services from 7 September, onwards.
