Delhi COVID-19 cases today: In the last 24 hours, Delhi reported 24,383 new Covid-19 cases, with 34 deaths, bringing the positivity rate to 30.64 percent. The total number of cases is now 16,70,966, with a death toll of 25,305. There are currently 92,273 active cases in the city, 64,831 of which are in home isolation.
However, the drop in numbers on Friday was due to fewer tests being performed in the capital. According to the city's health department, Delhi recorded 28,867 new Covid-19 cases on Thursday, the highest single-day number since the pandemic began.
Meanwhile, as the Delhi government focuses on testing only those with symptoms or those referred by doctors, Covid testing may decrease. Following a change in the Indian Council of Medical Research's (ICMR) guidelines, testing on-demand is no longer permitted.
The Delhi government's weekend curfew, which went into effect on January 1, began on Friday. All non-essential activities will be halted until Monday at 5 a.m., while all permitted services will operate as usual in accordance with DDMA guidelines.
