All-party meeting at MHA: Congress demands COVID19 testing of all, Rs 10000 to infected families

The all-party meeting chaired by Union Home Minister Amit Shah, over management of COVID-19 situation, is underway at the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA). Delhi Congress president Anil Kumar is attending the meeting on behalf of the Indian National Congress.

As per the sources, Congress has demanded #COVID19 testing to be provided to all, as it is everyone's right. Congress has also demanded that Rs 10000 be paid to every family whose member is infected or in the containment zone.

According to a report by ANI, sources also claimed that Congress has also demanded that the 4th year medical students be used as non-permanent resident doctors, and due to the crunch of healthcare staff, 4th year students of Bachelor of Pharmacy or nursing should be used as alternate for health staff.

Early this morning, Congress took to Twitter and accused PM Narendra Modi led NDA government that India has among the lowest testing rates in the world and many COVID19 deaths may not be reported. Congress has given the reference of a report by LiveMint that states are under-reporting deaths to present a better picture-Ramanan Laxminarayan, Center for Disease Dynamics, Economics, and Policy.

However, as per the data released by the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) today morning, Testing (Molecular based) update as on 15th June at 9 AM - total sample tested 57,74,133 and samples tested in last 24 hours 1,15,519. As per the recent data, the total numbers of confirmed cases of CoronaVirus positive in India are 332,783. 9523 total deaths are reported and over 16948 are recovered so far.
