Website of the Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) slows down on Friday, August 14, 2020. The access to the official website of University denied with “This site can’t be reached” for almost eight hours started from Friday morning. The official website ignou.ac.in stopped working for couple of hours on Friday, amid students’ speculations over possible exam date sheet. Thousands of final year students waiting for the September examination date sheet rushed to the official website to check examination related updates. According to students from 11.00 hours in Morning to 16.00 hours in afternoon IGNOU’s website was not working.
Being one of the largest University globally, IGNOU website faced technical glitches and remained un-responsive on Friday. Not only the sole website of University, official websites of the Regional centres including RC 1 Delhi (rcdelhi1.ignou.ac.in) and RC 3 Delhi (rcdelhi3.ignou.ac.in/) also stopped working. The sudden failure in operation of official website of Indira Gandhi National Open University reported amid students’ hurry to get date sheet of term end exams.

Students eagerly waiting for the IGNOU date sheet rushed to the official website ignou.ac.in for updates, after University's decision to hold final year / term exams in September 2020. University has also clarified its stance on holding final year/ semester exams in September month, a recent notice from University reads. Following the UGC guidelines on final exams, University has planned to conduct UG, PG, Diploma, Certificate & other courses final year exams from 1st week of September. However, Term End Examination date sheet is yet to be uploaded by “The People’s University”.
