Indian Railways, RRB Chennai Board will conduct CEN 1/2019 NTPC Online Computer Based Test (CBT 1) for more than 1.2 Crore candidates. Railway Recruitment Board Chennai has been handed over the responsibility to conduct Non-Technical Popular Categories (NTPC) exam. In prior to NTPC examination, candidates appearing in Stage 1 examination are briefed on estimated CBT 1 Cut off marks.
Based on the structure laid down by Indian Railways, RRB Board to shortlist the candidates by deciding category wise cut off marks in Stage 1. However, the decision on cut off will be taken at time of preparation of NTPC Stage 1 result. Railway RRB Chennai through Centralized Employment Notification CEN 1/2019 NTPC recruitment has decided minimum percentage of marks for eligibility in various categories as for (UR-40%, EWS 40%, OBC (Non creamy layer) -30%, SC-30%, ST-25%).
For 1.26 Crore applicants, RRB Chennai would conduct Online Computer Based Test stage 1 in coming months following the social distancing norms, Board Chairman said in his recent interaction. Under advt no CEN 1/2019 on 35,208 vacancies the first stage CBT test will be held. As competition is quite tough the detailed process of shortlisting, minimum qualifying marks percentage and estimated Cut off would be formed by RRB Board. Here we compile a list of all-important points a student should note in regarding the NTPC Stage 1 exam 2020.
RRB NTPC Stage 1 CBT- Exam Duration in Minutes- 90 minutes and total No of Questions- 100
Questions- a) On General Awareness- 40, b) Mathematics- 30, General Intelligence and Reasoning- 30
There will be negative marking and 1/3 mark shall be deducted for each wrong answer.
Shortlisting for Stage 2- RRB wise short listing of candidates for 2nd Stage CBT shall be done at the rate of 20 times the vacancies (may increase or decrease as per the requirement of Railway Administration). The short listing for 2 nd Stage CBT will be based on the merit of the candidates in 1st Stage CBT. The short listing for Skill Tests such as Computer based Aptitude Test and Typing Skill Test shall be to the extent of 8 times the vacancies.
Note- All posts falling within same level of 7th CPC shall have a common 2nd stage CBT. If candidates are eligible for more than one level of 7th CPC posts as per their educational qualifications, they have to give common 1st stage CBT and corresponding 2nd stage CBT for each level of 7th CPC.

Minimum Qualifying Marks- The RRB has set minimum qualifying marks for stage 1 test for Non-Technical Popular Categories (Graduate & Non-Graduate) posts. As per CEN 1/2019 notification for UR-40%, EWS 40%, OBC (Non creamy layer)- 30%, SC- 30%, ST-25%) are qualifying percentage of marks. These percentages of marks for eligibility may be relaxed by 2% for PwBD candidates in case of shortage of PwBD candidates against vacancies reserved for them.
Stages of Railway NTPC Recruitment Examination- There shall be two stage Computer Based Test (CBT) followed by Skill Test (Computer based Aptitude Test for Station Master and Traffic Assistant, Typing Skill Test for Junior Clerk cum Typist, Junior Time Keeper, Accounts Clerk cum Typist, Senior Clerk cum Typist, Junior Account Assistant cum Typist and Senior Time Keeper). Subsequently, there will be document verification and medical examination. All updates in regarding NTPC CEN 1/2019 recruitment will be coordinated by RRB Chennai Board. For Trains Clerk, Commercial cum Ticket Clerk, Goods Guard, Senior Commercial cum Ticket Clerk, Commercial Apprentice, there shall be two stage CBT followed by document verification and medical examination.
