Delhi University Act made during the British era, we need more colleges, says Kejriwal on DU's high cut offs

Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal on Friday says that we need more colleges and universities after questioning on higher cut offs by Delhi University. 'Delhi University Act' was made during the British era and this states that new colleges need to be affiliated with Delhi University, CM added.

The Chief Minister of Delhi, Arvind Kejriwal in a press statement hints out that Delhi University (DU) needs more colleges affilliated to the University, after DU's first Cut off touched hundred percentile. On being asked on Delhi University's mounting cut offs CM said "Why are the admission cut offs so high in Delhi? It is so because there is a huge lack of colleges & universities in Delhi, while the number of students is increasing. We need many more colleges & universities here".

Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal chairing a press conference on Friday says that in regarding to the affiliation of more colleges in Delhi University and ammendment of british era Act, he has written to the Minister of Education seeking the amendment in the act. "I've written to the Minister of Education seeking to amend the Act so that new colleges and universities can be opened in Delhi", CM Arvind Kejriwal added.

Earlier Delhi Chief Minister was questioned on the ongoing protest led by students against the Delhi University's 1st cut off. Students carried out the non-violent protest outside the Delhi University. According to reports a large numbers of students gathered outside the north campus of Delhi University against the mounting 1st Cut off 2020 which touched 100 percent marks.

The Delhi University's first cut off which was released on October 10, touched 100 per cent for B.A Hons Economics and English. Following the same, Students protested against the huge mount in Cut offs.
