JEE Main-Advanced 2020 Counseling: All about JoSAA Counselling Registration & Seat Allocation

IIT Delhi has declared the JEE Advanced 2020 result at web site jeeadv.ac.in. Candidates who are declared qualified for the Joint Seat Allocation (JoSAA) Counselling, going eligible for the Registration for the Seat Allotment. For the JEE Advanced qualified candidates registration/ choice filling for academic programs under JoSAA Counselling to start from October 6, 2020 (Tuesday). On other hand candidates who qualify AAT can fill their AAT-specific choices starting from Oct 11, 2020 after declaration of AAT result.

The Joint Seat Allocation Authority (JoSAA) 2020 to manage and regulate the joint seat allocation for admissions to 111 institutes for the academic year 2020-21. The list includes 23 IITs,  31 NITs, IIEST Shibpur, 26 IIITs and 29 Other-Government Funded Technical Institutes (Other-GFTIs). Admission to all the academic programs offered by these Institutes will be made through a single platform. JoSAA Counselling registration is beginning from 6 October 2020 at JoSAA registration portal. The last date for JoSAA counselling is October 15, 2020.

JoSAA Counselling Registration is mandatory for JEE Advanced qualified candidate interested in joining any of the IITs, NITs, IIITs (Triple-I-Ts) and Other-GFTIs (within the purview of JoSAA2020). The process of registration requires candidates to reconfirm a few basic details, viz. gender, state code of eligibility and nationality, and provide their contact details.

Only for IITs: Candidates who are allotted a seat for the first time in the 6th (FINAL) round of seat allocation may do the document verification and deposit of fees at the time of registration at the admitting IIT. Candidates who will be allotted a seat after the JoSAA choice filling round can download their “Provisional Seat Allocation Letter” and an e-challan for remittance of seat acceptance fee from josaa.nic.in.

First round Seat allotment to take place on October 17, 2020 (10:00 AM). Online reporting, fee payment / document upload / response by candidate to query (if required) for Round 1 to be available from Oct 17, 2020 to Oct 19, 2020.

Only for NIT+ System): Normally physical reporting at admitting institutes is mandatory for students who have accepted a seat in NITs, IIITs (Triple-I-Ts) and Other-GFTIs immediately after 6th round of seat allocation through Counselling. In case, the situation does not permit the physical presence of candidate at admitting Institute the above process will be done online (for further details visit CSAB website www.csab.nic.in).

Based on the rank of JEE Main 2020, admissions will also be made to the first year of Engineering/ Technology and Architecture/ Planning Programs on supernumerary seats in NITs for Union Territories, and in some AICTE approved Institutes for North East and Union Territories (NEUT) through this centralized seat allocation procedure.
