Toofaan Review: Story
In Mumbai, Ajju (Farhan Akhtar) makes a recovery. Everyone salutes him, but only because of fear. Life is going on, people are getting beaten up, big money is also pouring in Ajju's life and everything gets completed at one gesture. But still, Ajju realizes that no one respects him. In such a situation, he changes his path to get respect. Fundament is simple for him - he fights, so he decides to do boxing. The work which used to be abusive on the streets earlier, he will now do with some rules in a ring. In order to prevent him from deviating from this boxing path, a female love interest is inserted into the plot who constantly motivates him.
The name is Ananya (Mrunal Thakur) and is a doctor by profession. Ananya says only one thing- this Ajju is a gangster... and this is Aziz Ali the boxer, what do you want to be. This one dialogue made Ajju Aziz and then he turned into a storm. Now he takes training from coach Nana Prabhu (Paresh Rawal) (how he meets Nana Prabhu, you will know by watching the film) and the journey to touch the heights in boxing begins. Now how many obstacles come in that journey, with whom does Ajju gets along? and with whom does he leave?, all these details will be revealed to you in 2 hours 40 minutes.
Toofaan Review: Acting
Acting saves the drowning ship, now this disappointing story has been supported by the capable starcast to rescue the film. If there is anything good in the entire film, then it is the acting of the actors. Farhan Akhtar has done a tremendous job. The acting is great, the way in which actors have gone on holding thier characters, is also commendable. It is so important that the makers worked too hard on his physique. Farhan's bicep-tricep were more highlighted than other boxers.
This aspect can be knocked out on many occasions. Paresh Rawal is a mature artist and it is considered as one of his habit to easily adapt to any role. In such a situation, here too he has not done anything different. In the role of coach, he has done justice. Mrunal Thakur has not been given much screen space in the film. But this artist left her mark even in a short time. His chemistry with Farhan is also good and some good dialogues have also come in her bag. Among the co-stars, the work of Hussain Dalal, Supriya Pathak, Vijay Raj and Darshan Kumar will be worth watching.
Toofaan Review: Love Jihad Controversy
Talking about the direction of Rakesh Om Prakash Mehra, this time he has made some mistakes. The story has been average, watching the film, it also seems that he took up the controversy forcibly. Intercaste marriage was shown in the film and one character even gave it the name of 'Love Jihad'. When the film is about sports, the story of boxing is going on, then this love jihad angle was imposed in the middle which could have been easily skipped.
Leaving this controversy behind, the climax of the film will be called fine. The end of the story is already known, but still there remains a bit of excitement. Boxing matches also seem close to reality and they are fun to watch. In such a situation, if you watch Farhan Akhtar's Toofaan once, you will be in for average entertainment. On the other hand, even if you do not feel like watching, you are not going to miss something great.
