Surekha Sikri, who became a nationwide famous onscreen grandmother from the serial Balika Vadhu, passed away at the age of 75. Veteran actress Surekha Sikri breathed her last on Friday morning. Her manager told in a conversation with a media channel that Surekha Sikri had suffered a heart attack due to which she died.

Let us tell you that she was battling all the complications after the second brain stroke. Everyone was taking care of her. Surekha Sikri, who entertained her audience till the age of 75, won the hearts of the audience with her different characters. Humble Beginnings In 1978

Surekha Sikri, who ruled everyone by becoming a grandmother, started her career in 1978 with the film 'Kissa Kursi Ka'. She played the role of Meera in this film. Directed by Amrit Nahata, it was a film with a political background. Although Surekha Sikri remained active in films, she did only 29 films in her entire film career. His films include films like Little Buddha, Nazar, Naseem, Sarfarosh, Dillagi, Tumsa Nahi Dekha. Surekha Sikri last acted in a film in the year 2020 in Ghost Stories.

Surekha Sikri's Magical Presence On Television 

Along with Bollywood, Surekha Sikri spread the magic of her acting on television as well. She did many shows on television like 'Balika Vadhu' and 'Ek Tha Raja Ek Thi Rani'. She was sometimes seen on the small screen as a tough grandmother and sometimes as a bubbly grandmother with her innocence, she entered the hearts of the audience. Apart from these shows, she played the role of 'Indumati Lala Mehra' in 'Pardes Mein Hai Mera Dil', while she was seen as Bhabo in Saat Phere. The audience got to see a unique form of his acting with every show. He worked in 16 television serials throughout his career.

Earned Nationwide Fame With 'Balika Vadhu'

Surekha Sikri played many different characters on the small and big screens but her character of Dadi Sa in the show 'Balika Vadhu' made her famous in every household. The story of this show was based on the child marriage taking place in society. Surekha Sikri played the character of 'Kalyani Devi Dharamveer Singh' aka Dadi Sa in the show. She was like a tough grandmother in the show who always keeps her bindis in class and she rules the whole house. However, with time their behavior changes and the grandmother who keeps scolding the daughters-in-law becomes more than a mother to her daughters-in-law.

Surekha Sikri Was Honored with National Award

Surekha Sikri has acted in theatres, apart from television and films. She has been active in theatre. Apart from Hindi films, he also worked in Malayalam films. Surekha Sikri was honored with the National Award not once but thrice. He was awarded the National Award for the film 'Tamas' in 1986, 'Mammo' in 1995, and 'Badhaai Ho' in the year 2018. She played the role of Ayushmann Khurrana's grandmother in Badhaai Ho and her character was well received by the audience.

Avika Gor (Aka Anandi of Balika Vadhu) Left A Heartfelt Note

Her onscreen co-star and lead actress in 2008 Colors Tv show 'Balika Vadhu' Avika Gor has left a heart-touching goodbye note for the late actress. She wrote, "I have some amazing memories with Surekha ji. Apart from being an incredible actress she was a beautiful human. It was always difficult to match her energy levels during the scenes but she made sure I was comfortable every time I was around her & that taught me to be grounded. I have always wanted to be like her.. hardworking.. grounded.. kind.. She has truly left us a legacy to follow. Dadisaa… I will always love you, my guardian angel. RIP"
