After heavy anticipation from the fans, Kajol’s family drama could not meet the moviegoers' expectations with its storyline. Vishal Jethwa also got fairly positive reviews from critics.

Revathy's directorial film struggles to do any business at the box office, even if the movie is emotional and sensitive came with a unique topic, it doesn’t seem to resonate with the hearts of the audiences.  

On day 2, Saturday the movie earned around Rs 0.7 Crores. The film had a weak opening weekend and didn’t find to do well commercially. 

Salaam Venky is facing solid competition with recently released films Drishyam 2, Bhediya, and An Action Hero, however, it's doing much better than the other two same-date releases Maarrich and Vadh at the box office.

On Sunday, Day 3 it earned around 0.70 crores at the box office with a 10% of occupancy rate in the morning, 12% in the afternoon, 16% evening, and 11 % at night shows.

Hence, its total collection stands now at a mere Rs 2 Crores.
