Panipat is set in the 18th century where the Marathas had built one of the strongest empires in entire India. It is confronted by Afghan King Ahmad Shah Abdali (Sanjay Dutt) who plans to take over the Maratha Peshwa kingdom by going against Sadashiv Rao Bhau (Arjun Kapoor). Until an attacker set his eyes on the throne of Geographic region. That`s when Sadashiv Rao Bhau (Arjun Kapoor), the Commander-in-Chief of the Maratha army led a northern expedition in order to repel the invading forces of Ahmad Shah Abdali (Sanjay Dutt), the king of Afghanistan.
