In an effort to maintain its domiance in Indian entertainment circle, OTT Netflix on Wednesday announced a multi-year strategic partnership with Excel Entertainment, the company owned by Hindi cinema producers Ritesh Sidhwani and Farhan Akhtar.

Excel Entertainment's banner, which has made cult classics films like 'Dil Chahta Hai', 'Rock On', 'Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara', 'Lakshya', 'Toofan' and 'Don', has collaborated with Netflix to bring OTT content in the country. There is likely to be a direct impact on the ongoing competition. Farhan's previous film 'Toofan' was released on Prime Video.

Netflix continues to be the nation and the world's leading OTT in on-demand. The efforts of Prime Video and other OTT players to challenge its leadership have not yet come to bear results.  Now with the addition of Excel Entertainment, Netflix has got a slight edge in this competition.

Netflix's user experience and user interface, which is available in more than 190 countries, is also liked more in Hindi-speaking circles as compared to other OTT players. According to the announcement on Wednesday, Excel Entertainment has started working on two new stories for Netflix, 'Dabba Cartel' and 'Queen of the Hill'.

According to the information, 'Dabba Cartel' tells the story of five housewives who run a secret cartel. Whereas, 'Queen of the Hill' is a tale of two aspiring women in the lead roles of Hasrat, Pyaar, Dosti and Deception in the 1960s-rich Mumbai landscape rich in jazz music.
