Earlier in Year 2001, Lata Mangeshkar has also been awarded with “Bharat Ratna” the highest-Civilian award of India. In her entire life Lata Mangeshkar has been awarded with several awards including- The Dadasaheb Phalke Award was bestowed on her in 1989 by the Government of India. In 2001, in recognition of her contributions to the nation, she was awarded the Bharat Ratna, India's highest civilian honour and is only the second vocalist, after M. Lata Mangeshkar Birth & Background-

Lata Mangeshkar was born in 1929. She is the eldest daughter of Pandit Deenanath Mangeshkar the Father of Lataji. Here Father was a Marathi musician and his Gujarati wife Shevanti lived in Indore (Madhya Pradesh) when she was born.
