Chup is largely attracting a class audience at a few urban multiplexes. However, a far larger base of explorers would have been preferable given Sunny Deol's presence. However, this has served as Dulquer Salmaan's formal entrance to the Indian market.
At reality, he is getting a lot of attention since Sita Ramam is also performing, and in some venues up north, there are houseful signs for the Hindi version as well. The actor has demonstrated good versatility with a love tale on one side and a psychological crime drama on the other, and from here he may be struggling for a broader market on a pan-Indian level. The movie has now crosses ₹10 crores at the box office. Chup box office collection day 7 report is given here.

Although Chup's box office numbers aren't particularly impressive, given the state of the industry this year, when much larger budgeted movies are struggling to reach the ₹15-20 crore range, this thriller by R Balki has earned some bonus theatrical numbers after recovering its controlled budget through, among other things, satellite and OTT rights.
