Bollywood veteran Sanjay Dutt participates in vaccination drive, takes 1st shot of COVID-19 vaccine

In order to promote the COVID-19 vaccination drive, Bollywood superstar Sanjay Dutt takes the first dose of the coronavirus vaccine. So far India has administered 48.4 million vaccine doses across the country as of 22 March 2021.

As per reports, Actor Sanjay Dutt, on Tuesday, became the latest Indian celebrity to take the first shot of the Covid-19 vaccine. Previously, PM Modi took the COVID-19 vaccine to encourage Indian citizens to become part of the nationwide vaccination drive. 

This time, Bollywood veteran Sanjay Dutt has also used his star power to encourage his fans to take the COVID-19 vaccine without any fear as it is completely safe.

The 61-year-old star took to his Twitter handle and shared a picture of him taking the vaccination shot at the BKC jumbo vaccination center in Mumbai.

On 16 January 2021 India started its national vaccination program against the SARS-CoV-2 virus which has caused the COVID-19 pandemic. The drive prioritizes healthcare and frontline workers, and then those over the age of 60, and then those over the age of 45 and suffering from certain comorbidities.

In January 2021 Secretary-General of the United Nations António Guterres said that India's vaccine production capacity is the best asset the world has. According to health officials, India has administered 4,84,94,594 (48.4 million) vaccine doses across the country as of 22 March 2021.
