Article 15 box office collection Day 13 - Ayushmann Khurrana's film crossed over the Rs 50 crore mark in his second weekend

Article 15 box office collection Day 13 - Ayushmann Khurrana starrer "Article 15" which was released on June 28, has finally crossed the Rs 50-crore mark in the second week of its release. However, the film's box office collection was little affected by the ongoing ICC Cricket World Cup 2019 semi-finals between India vs New Zealand and England vs Australia. The film is now becoming the second-biggest opener of Ayushmann's career.


   The film's box office collection was Rs 2.85 crore on Thursday, a little dip in his earnings due to the ongoing ICC Cricket World Cup 2019 semi-finals, Rs 1.25 crore on Friday. Thus, making  a total box office collection of the film reached to Rs 53.68 crore so far.


Directed by Anubhav Sinha, Article 15 is based on the Article 15 of the Indian constitution, which prohibits discrimination on grounds of religion, race, caste, sex or place of birth and others. It revolves around the story of a young IPS officer, who investigates the case of gang rape and murder of two Dalit girls despite the issues he face because of the strict caste system prevailing in the area.

The storyline for the socio-political drama film "Article 15" has been inspired from true life events, including 2014 Badaun gang rape and 2016 Una flogging incident. Ayushmann Khurrana, the protagonist, plays a police officer in the film.

Article 15 is written by Gaurav Solanki and Anubhav Sinha and also featuring Isha Talwar, Sayani Gupta, Kumud Mishra and Manoj Pahwa in key roles.


Produced by Zee Studios and Benaras Media Works, Article 15 was selected as the opening film for the 10th edition of London Indian Film Festival, which premiered on June 20.
