Anushka Sharma In Chakda Xpress: After a three-year hiatus, actress Anushka Sharma is back in the spotlight, this time as a cricketer in the Netflix film 'Chakda Xpress.' Anushka Sharma's last appearance was in Angrezi Medium. It was only a cameo role.
Anushka Sharma To Play Jhulan Goswami: The Netflix film, directed by Prosit Roy, is based on the life of Jhulan Goswami, the former captain of India's national women's cricket team. Anushka Sharma, who will play the eponymous role in the film, stated, "It's a truly unique film because it's ultimately a storey about incredible sacrifice. Chakda Xpress will provide an insight into the world of women's cricket. When Jhulan decided to become a cricketer and represent her country on the international stage, it was extremely difficult for women to even consider taking up the sport. This video is a dramatic reenactment of several events in her life as well as in women's cricket."
Anushka is overjoyed at the prospect of playing Jhulan on screen. "From support systems to facilities, to a consistent income from playing the game, to even a future in cricket, very nothing drove women in India to pursue cricket as a vocation. Jhulan had a tumultuous and unpredictable cricketing career, but she remained determined to make her country proud. She worked hard to dispel the stigma that women cannot make a career out of playing cricket in India, so that the next generation of girls would have a more even playing field "She continued.
Anushka went on to say, "Her life is a living testament to the fact that passion and tenacity triumph over any and all challenges and Chakda Xpress is the ultimate peek inside the not-so-rosy world of women's cricket back then. There is still much work to be done, and we must provide them with the greatest resources possible so that women's sports can thrive in India."
