The much-anticipated Kabir Khan film, 83, with Ranveer Singh in the lead, had a somewhat disappointing weekend, earning in the range of ₹16.50 to ₹17 crores on Sunday, bringing the three-day total to around ₹46 crore plus. Despite the large national holiday of Christmas, where Bollywood blockbusters like Tiger Zinda Hai and Dangal set all-time single-day records, the collections of 83 are much below expectations. The sole reason 83 did not meet expectations is a lack of enthusiasm among the public in watching the picture, which was exacerbated by the fact that the ticket prices were exorbitant, putting the film out of reach of the average person.

Following the media screenings and good reviews, word of mouth among the audience does not appear to be as robust as one would hope. The reports in the mass belts, in particular, are inadequate, although the metros continue to be optimistic.
