The National Testing Agency (NTA) today, on November 29 resumes the UGC NET with History (Group-1) and Population Studies subjects. According to the local media reports, the computer-based test is held successfully at the exam centers. Based on feedback from the students, the exam for shift 1 is now over with Easy and Moderate difficulty levels for History and Population Studies respectively.
Once the examination is over, the nodal agency shall issue the UGC NET December 2020 and June 2021 answer key of History, Population Studies, and Anthropology subjects along with question papers and intimation regarding raising of challenges.
Upon availability, candidates who appear for the online exam can check and download their subject-code-wise answer key. The responses will be displayed for a two to three days time period. Hence, candidates are advised to be in touch with the NTA website for the latest announcements.
The first shift examination was held from 09:30 am- 12:30 pm, followed by the second shift examination from 02:30 pm- 5:30 pm. Candidates shall not be permitted to enter the examination center after 8:30 am in the first shift and after 1:30 pm in the second shift.
History (Subject Code 06): In History, Group-1 examination questions were asked from the aspects of Indian History, Pre-history, Ancient period, Medieval Indian history, and Modern India including National Movement and post independent phase. It also consists of Historical Method, Research Methodology and Historiography. One has to answer a maximum of as many as correct responses, as there is negative marking in the exam. History paper-1 test consisted of 50 questions from Reasoning Ability, Reading Comprehension, Divergent Thinking, and General Awareness of the candidates. The paper consists of 100 subject-related questions from 10 units, with precisely 5 questions from each unit. The total marks in the examination are 150. The candidates were given time duration of 3 hours to attempt all questions.

As per the schedule, the first shift exam began at 9:30 am with social distancing and COVID-19 measures. With a duration of 3 hours, the computer-based test ended at 12:30 pm for the registered candidates. The examination for the second shift is scheduled from 2:30 to 5:30 pm.
