IBM Academic Award 2021: Chaya Ganesh of IISc & Madhav Rao of IIIT Bangalore Win prestigious awards

Chaya Ganesh, a researcher at the Indian Institute of Science Bangalore, has won prestigious IBM academic award under Global University Program. She bags the award for developing efficient protocols for certifying private AI models and supporting verifiable inference using those models.

Chaya Ganesh, a researcher at the Indian Institute of Science Bangalore (IISc Bangalore), has won the prestigious IBM academic award under Global University Program. She bags the award for developing efficient protocols for certifying private AI models and supporting verifiable inference using those models.

Chaya Ganesh is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Computer Science and Automation at the Indian Institute of Science. According to her bio at the Institute's portal, her research interests are in Cryptography and Security. Before joining IISc, she was a post-doctoral researcher in the Crypto group at Aarhus University.

On Monday, August 23, 2021 IISC Bangalore in its congratulatory message tweeted, "Congratulations to Chaya Ganesh for receiving the prestigious IBM Global University Program Award. The award fosters collaboration between researchers at leading universities and IBM Researchers & Technologists worldwide".

In addition to this, Madhav Rao another researcher from Bangalore-based International Institute of Information Technology, Bangalore (IIIT Bangalore) also bagged the IBM Academic Award for 2021. He presented his research in the development of an AI model to identify Autism Spectrum Disorder.

According to IIITB, Madhav Rao received his Ph.D in Electrical Engineering from the University of Alabama, M.Sc in Microelectronics from the University of Arkansas, and completed his BE in Electronics and Telecommunication Engineering from the University of Mumbai.

Rao has been working in a group on approximate computing VLSI circuit design, and Hardware efficient AI designs. He is also involved in the development of surgical and assistive biomedical devices in collaboration with the NIMHANS faculty group.
