Assam Minister has said that Schools in the state will re-open from 1st November followed by Hostels in the December month. Himanta Biswa Sarma, Finance Minister of Assam on Saturday says that the Assam state Govt has decided to roll-out a plan in re-opening of schools from 1st November and students can come to the respective schools only three days a week, Minister added.

Hostels will re-open from 1st December, schools from 1st November, Minister HB Sarma on Saturday says. "We've divided sections & days in a way to ensure that the institution doesn't become overcrowded. There'll be two streams - 8.30 am-12.30 pm & 1.30-4.30 pm. Students can come only three days a week", Assam Minister HB Sarma says during an interaction with media.

Schools in the Assam state are shut since March 24, when the nationwide lockdown was imposed with an aim to contain spread of the Covid-19, by the Govt of India. However, relaxing the restrictions imposed during different phases of lockdown, Ministry of Home Affairs has permitted schools to re-open from 16 October, 2020.

The Assam state Finance Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on being asked of re-opening of schools, says that there would be an option that if some parents or school authorities do not want to open school and want to carry on online classes, they can do that.

We've also given an option that if some parents or school authorities do not want to open school and want to carry on online classes, they can do that. We will not be insisting on mandatory attendance this year, because this is voluntary participation, Minister added.
